以上據說是一本書上的翻譯。這裡順便貼一下「社稷」的意思：
「社稷」是一個特指名詞。社，古代指土地之神；古代又把祭土地的地方、日子和禮都叫社。稷，指五穀之神。
故「社稷」從字面來看是說土谷之神。由於古時的君主為了祈求國事太平，平谷豐登，每年 都要到郊外祭祀土地和五穀神。社稷也就成了國家的象徵，後來人們就用「社稷」來代表國家。
不過我覺得沒有必要按照社稷的字面意思翻譯，不如說：
