8.(表判斷、觀點)由(…來看)，根據(…來判斷)
from her looks you would say she was about twenty.
從她的模樣看，你會說她約摸20歲。

he played the music from memory.

1. from…on 從…起
he never spoke to her again from that day on. 從那天以後他再沒有同她說過話。
2. from…to… 從…到…
he flew from beijing to shanghai. 他坐飛機從北京到上海。
三、語法說明與慣用法說明
1. 有時其後可接介詞短語
choose a book from among these. 從這些書中選一本吧。
比較：i took it from the bed. 我從床那兒(或床上)拿的。
i took it from under the bed. 我從床下拿的。
注意，下面一句用了 from where(引導非限制性定語從句)，而未用from which，其中的where=in the tree，即 from where=from in the tree：
he hid himself in a tree, from where he could see the enemy in the distance.
他躲在一棵樹上，從那兒他可以看到遠處的敵人。
2. 有時其後可接when, where引導的賓語從句(可視為其前省略了the time, the place)：
he didn』t speak to me from when we moved in.
從我們遷入之時起，他沒和我說過話。
from where i stood i could see everything clearly.
從我站的地方我一切都看得清清楚楚。
3. 某些由from…to…構成的習語通常不帶冠詞：
from house to house 挨家挨戶
from time to time 不時地
from day to day 一天天地
from head to foot 從頭至腳, 全身
from beginning to end從頭至尾
from hand to mouth 賺一點吃一點, 僅能餬口
